Southside neighbors start cleanup after Sunday's flood swamped homes and businesses
The Good Day Flagstaff team
Heavy rain Sunday flooded homes, businesses and streets in Flagstaff's Southside neighborhood, and the Arizona Daily Star reported a person missing in Flagstaff. Officials said the current swept one man away, and he was later found dead. By Monday morning, street sweepers were still clearing mud, and many buildings wore a thin, muddy ring about eight inches above the ground.

Yves Wood, an NAU astronomy major, evacuated Sunday afternoon when water came up through the floorboards. Taylor Mahoney of Flagstaff Camera expects to lose "at least several weeks' worth of business" and doesn't think he has flood insurance.
“I've owned businesses downtown since 2012. I've never seen anything like this.”
- Report damage: submit it online to the City of Flagstaff
- Avoid Southside and downtown, the city advises
