COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The 9th annual Barks and Brews will bring a dog-friendly pup crawl with beer tastings from six breweries in Flagstaff as it raises funds for local causes—promising a fun event that supports the community.  Arizona Daily Sun

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The National Park Service announced that selected areas on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon will partially reopen on Oct. 1, with access available from sunrise to sunset at Highway 67 to the W1 road at mile marker 11, Cape Royal Road to Point Imperial and Cape Royal, and at Fire Point and Swamp Ridge—open until Nov. 30 or the first snowfall.  AZ Family
  • Coconino County is spending millions to thin forests in the Upper Rio de Flag so they become healthier and less likely to burn. Workers are cutting and moving timber to reduce fire risk and protect the watershed—measures that also send wood to Phoenix for processing—.  AZ Family

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Flagstaff Planning and Zoning Commission will meet at the city council chambers on Sept. 29 to discuss approval conditions for the Regional Land Use Plan 2045—continuing from public hearings held on Sept. 10 and Sept. 24.   • On Oct. 23, 2025, the Bureau of Reclamation will present results from a regional water planning study in Flagstaff City Council Chambers—helping local partners develop a resilient water solution. The public may attend in person or listen online.  City of Flagstaff
  • The Coconino County treasurer warns residents that fraudulent websites falsely claiming to accept property tax payments are active—use of the official county website is advised to avoid scams.  Arizona Daily Sun
