- ➤ The Boys and Girls Club of Flagstaff has opened a new little library in partnership with HealthCorps—HealthCorps played a key role in making the project real. Arizona Daily Sun
- ➤ A free trick-or-treat event will return downtown Flagstaff on Halloween—offering games, photo-ops, and live music from the Spooky Brass Band from 5 to 7 p.m. Arizona Daily Sun
- ➤ Due to the federal shutdown, more than 8,000 families in Coconino County will lose SNAP benefits on Nov. 1, leaving many at risk as food banks and nonprofits prepare for higher demand. County officials are launching a food drive at several drop-off points through Nov. 7—Governor Hobbs has allocated $1.8 million to support affected families. Flagscanner
- ➤ On Nov.8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the City of Flagstaff, Coconino County and Mountain Line will host the Stuff the Bus food drive at Safeway on Plaza Way to collect food and money for the Flagstaff Family Food Center. Donations will also be accepted on Nov.9 at Plaza Way and at the Safeway on Cedar Ave on both days — community volunteers are invited to help greet shoppers and share information. City of Flagstaff
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Coconino County Flood Control District and the U.S. Forest Service will start a post-wildfire flood mitigation project at the Cinder Lake OHV Recreation Area on Monday, Nov. 3—crews will remove sediment and add erosion controls to protect nearby communities and infrastructure. Forest Service Road 776 will be closed during the project to ensure safety as work continues until December 24. Flagscanner
