Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 28th of October.
Good morning, Flagstaff.
🏘️ Community
The City of Flagstaff will host the first PROSE Master Plan open-house on Thursday, Oct.
29 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Flagstaff Aquaplex (1702 N. Fourth Street) where residents can share ideas and give feedback; those who can't attend can comment online at FlagstaffPROSE.com.
The Interfaith Council will hold a voter education event at 5:30 p.m. in the church's Youth Room; call (801-310-5795) for more information.
🌲 Environment
The U.S. Forest Service closed the West Fork trail until further notice after recent floodwaters swept large boulders and debris across the route, making it unsafe.
The trail will reopen only after repairs, possible rerouting, debris removal, and consultation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (because the Narrow Headed Garter Snake’s habitat is present); Oak Creek Canyon day-use area remains open.
🏛️ Government
Pedestrian crossings on Soliere Avenue were completed, funded largely by a $5.5 million Federal Transit Administration grant as part of a corridor safety upgrade.
