- ➤ Flagstaff is inviting residents to a free day-long gathering focused on the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives crisis on October 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Coconino Center for the Arts — free film screenings will be held on October 20 and 21 at 5:30 p.m. to support the discussion. - ➤ The Exchange Club of Flagstaff hosted a luncheon on October 15 at The Elks Lodge to honor first responders for their bravery and service, including Officer Conner Simmons (Flagstaff Police) and Detective Robert McKeever (Coconino County Sheriff’s Office), with additional winners from NAU PD, DPS, Flagstaff Fire Department, Highlands Fire Department, and Pinewood Fire District. - ➤ Deputy Chief Bills, who died on Oct. 10 in the line of duty, will be honored with a memorial service on Oct. 20 at 10:30 a.m. at San Francisco de Asis Roman Catholic Church. The event has limited capacity so attendees must arrive by 9:30 a.m., and the procession will begin at 12:15 p.m. toward Calvary Catholic Cemetery plus donations to United Flagstaff Fire Fighter Local 1505 are requested instead of flowers.
