ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A water pump failure below the South Rim forced Grand Canyon to raise water conservation measures and reinstate Stage 2 fire restrictions—officials say the step will help protect water resources and reduce fire risks. Arizona Daily Sun
- ➤ The National Weather Service issued a flood watch that began October 9 at noon and will expire at midnight October 12, and residents can get self-fill sandbags in Flagstaff at Thorpe Park—fire stations and local public works yards in northern Arizona also offer sandbags with only a shovel needed. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Rep. Eli Crane introduced the North Rim Restoration Act of 2025 to let the National Park Service use emergency contracting to speed up rebuilding at the Grand Canyon’s North Rim after the Dragon Bravo Fire damaged buildings and a water pipeline. The bill also will require a report every 180 days to monitor fire-related recovery work. AZ Family
