- ➤ Flagstaff Unified School District said Friday morning it lost money in a financial fraud and cybercrime scheme — district officials are reviewing the incident. Arizona Daily Sun
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Kaibab National Forest will reduce its closure area on Wednesday, Oct. 1 after the Dragon Bravo Fire is fully contained; about 25,000 acres north of the Grand Canyon National Park boundary will reopen to provide access to nearly 90% of the North Kaibab Ranger District—though some areas remain closed due to ongoing flooding risks and hazards. - ➤ Officials plan prescribed burns near Williams—Tusayan starting in October to cover about 18,500 acres. Arizona Daily Sun
- ➤ Grand Canyon National Park said yesterday that water conservation measures will be in effect at the South Rim until further notice—this action is meant to save water. Arizona Daily Sun
- ➤ Crews fully contained the Dragon Bravo Fire after nearly three months on the North Rim where it burned over 145,000 acres and damaged hundreds of buildings including the Grand Canyon Lodge. Officials said they will reopen key roads—SR 67 and Cape Royal Road—and parts of the forest on Oct. 1 as they work to address remaining hazards. AZ Family
