ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Coconino County Flood Control District Board is advancing forest restoration on about 12,000 acres in the Upper Rio de Flag watershed to lower wildfire and flooding risks—residents are advised to expect more log-truck traffic on forest roads and Highway 180 as work continues.  KAFF
  • Kaibab National Forest will hold five prescribed burns next month to reduce wildfire risk and protect communities and infrastructure (approval pending from the U.S. Forest Service). The burns will cover sites in Tusayan and Williams.  KAFF

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Fourth-Lockett Roundabout project is complete and now opens car and pedestrian traffic at Fourth Street and Cedar Avenue—Lockett Road. City, ADOT, and FANN Contracting officials said crews will finish final fencing and cleanup while the new roundabout improves traffic flow and safety near local schools and the public library—assuring smoother commutes.  City of Flagstaff
  • Flagstaff officials announced that the Fourth-Lockett Roundabout Project is complete and open today to vehicles and pedestrians at Fourth Street and Cedar Avenue/Lockett Road. The project replaced the old signalized intersection with flashing pedestrian crossing beacons — a crosswalk and new water, sewer, and storm drain work — while crews plan to install final fencing and clean up over the next few weeks.  KAFF
  • ADOT will begin pavement improvements on Interstate 40 east of Flagstaff today — the project will update the roadway with enhanced safety and smoother traffic flow.  Arizona Daily Sun
  • Flagstaff City Council will sue over Red Gap Ranch — the decision comes after the AZ Supreme Court rejected the city’s petition for review in its ongoing lawsuit with Desert Mountain Energy.  Arizona Daily Sun
