GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Coconino County announced that the Angell Road railroad crossing east of Winona will close on Sept. 23 and 24 for maintenance work by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway — the closure has been rescheduled to allow needed repairs.  Arizona Daily Sun
  • Valerie Wyant, the Coconino County Clerk of the Superior Court, will step down effective Jan 8—she will start as associate clerk in Pima County on Jan 12. She has served since her election in 2015.  KAFF
  • Coconino County and R Entertainment have extended the Pepsi Amphitheater contract through 2030—now guaranteeing the county a minimum of $118,153, up from $100,000 in recent years.  Arizona Daily Sun

  • NAU's volleyball team recorded three straight-set victories at the Lumberjack Classic—boosting their momentum as they prepare for tougher matches ahead.  Arizona Daily Sun
  • NAU football retained the Grand Canyon Trophy in a whirlwind last-minute win as they scored four touchdowns in the third quarter—despite Southern Utah scoring 21 straight points in the fourth.  Arizona Daily Sun
