ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A firefighter died on Monday afternoon while working on suppression repair at the Grand Canyon North Rim when he suffered a heart attack near the North Rim Entrance Station—paramedics tried to revive him but were unsuccessful.  AZ Family

CRIME NEWS

  • The Flagstaff Police Department arrested a local resident on a charge of attempted murder after a domestic violence incident on Wednesday, Sep. 3—further details remain limited—.  Arizona Daily Sun
  • On September 8, Flagstaff police arrested three individuals—charges include kidnapping and ransom-hostage.  Flagscanner
  • Authorities reported a weapons violation on E Huntington Dr yesterday—officials called the incident routine—and they have not released additional details.  Flagscanner

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Author Robin Wall Kimmerer will give a free talk at Northern Arizona University today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Prochnow Auditorium—locals may gain insights on nature and indigenous wisdom.  Arizona Daily Sun

  • Plattner Verderame — a Phoenix-based personal injury law firm — filed a notice of claim against Flagstaff Unified School District on Aug 28, demanding $55 million or threatening a lawsuit.  Arizona Daily Sun
  • The City of Flagstaff announced it will update its Carbon Neutrality Plan by hosting three open-house events—Sept. 20 at Murdoch Community Center, Sept. 25 on Zoom, and Oct. 1 at the East Flagstaff Community Library—to gather community input on adapting emission projections to the city’s current needs. The plan will keep its three core goals while using the new data for future planning.  KAFF
