- ➤ Mountain Line is partnering with Coconino County Parks and Recreation to offer free bus service to the county fair—making it easier for community members to attend the event. Arizona Daily Sun
- ➤ The Flagstaff Kennel Club donated $5K to Coconino County K9 Partners (a nonprofit that supports local law enforcement canine teams). Arizona Daily Sun
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 22-year-old man was stabbed in the front yard on the 1800 block of Juniper Drive in Lakeside around 10 p.m. on Aug. 27—reportedly by a white male about 6’4” with a scruffy beard seen in a brown jean jacket and blue jeans—and he was taken to a hospital where his condition is stable. KAFF

- ➤ Coconino County is asking for nominations for Teacher of the Year awards—nominations are now open for educators to be recognized in the community. Arizona Daily Sun
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Kaibab National Forest has lifted the Bill Williams Mountain closure by moving the area into Stage 2 fire restrictions—equalizing it with the rest of the forest. Arizona Daily Sun
- ➤ Kaibab National Forest has reopened 77,000 acres west of Highway 67 and south of Highway 89A as fire crews made progress on the Dragon Bravo Fire — yet areas near Kaibab Lodge, the North Rim Country Store, Demotte Campground, and Mile and a Half Lake remain closed while officials warn visitors to watch for dead trees and flooding hazards. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The city of Flagstaff is asking residents to share ideas for an artwork for The Wedge—survey open until Sep. 9. Arizona Daily Sun
- ➤ The Coconino County Board of Supervisors today granted Glittering Mountain development a three-year extension, and officials explained the reasons the project believed it could move forward. The extension gives the project extra time to meet its requirements. Arizona Daily Sun
- ➤ Coconino County will hold two public hearings for its 20-year Envision 2045 comprehensive plan—one on Sept. 24 via Microsoft Teams and another on Nov. 18 at the county administration building—with the hearing draft available Sept. 2. KAFF
- ➤ The City of Flagstaff is closing City Hall, Cinder Lake Landfill, Citizens Cemetery, both community libraries, Hal Jensen Recreation Center, Joe C. Montoya Community and Senior Center, and the Materials Recovery Facility on Labor Day. The Aquaplex and Jay Lively Activity Center remain open—City Hall reopens on Sept. 2 and trash and recycling services resume on Tuesday and Wednesday. KAFF
