ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • At 6:45 p.m. on August 22nd, Flagstaff Police and Fire responded to a gasoline spill on Beaver and Route 66 caused by a non-injury accident.  Flagscanner
  • Flagstaff police and EMS are responding to a two-car accident in front of the Burger King on the 3500 block of East Route66 (one teenager reportedly hit his head) which is partially blocking the roadway.  Flagscanner
  • Flagstaff Police and EMS responded to an accident at Route 66 and Humphreys on August 22 where a motorcycle was involved and traffic was stopped—officials confirmed the rider was up and walking.  Flagscanner
  • Today at 1:16 p.m. Flagstaff Police and Fire responded to a structure fire at 910 S Milton at Yugo NAU Housing when a maintenance worker reported smoke from a second-floor unit — firefighters later confined the fire to that unit and brought it under control while evacuations continued.  Flagscanner
  • On August 22, Flagstaff Airport had an aircraft emergency— a small plane experienced in-flight issues and landed safely so that Flagstaff Foam/ARFF units resumed their duties.  Flagscanner

CRIME NEWS

  • On August 22, Flagstaff Police responded at 10:39 a.m. to a fight at Bushmaster Park on Alta Vista where a caller said he separated an adult Native American male in a light grey shirt assaulting a female + the suspect left on foot with a group of males.  Flagscanner
  • CCSO officers responded to a fight on Chuska Ovi in Kachina Village when one man threatened others with a knife—officers used pepper spray to detain him and secure the scene, resulting in at least one arrest.  Flagscanner

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A U.S. Forest Service Burned Area Emergency Response team has started surveys on Kaibab National Forest—checking for post-fire flooding and debris flow risks—to gauge land conditions. Officials from several agencies will use the report to decide if emergency stabilization steps must be taken.  KAFF

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Superior Court of Coconino County appointed Judge Roberta McVickers as a full-time judge pro tempore in Division 6; her work as a public defender, prosecutor, private attorney and on-call judge earned praise from Presiding Judge Ted Reed—who said her experience and dedication to the rule of law make her a strong legal leader.  KAFF
