ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • At 6:40 a.m. today, Summit FD and State Troopers responded to a reported car fire along eastbound Interstate 40 near mile marker 215 about 14 miles east of Flagstaff—officials later said the incident involved only hot brakes.  Flagscanner

CRIME NEWS

  • Flagstaff Police Department is asking the community to help spread word about convicted sex offender Christopher J. Salabye per Arizona law—he has been convicted of sex offenses but is not wanted by police at this time.  Flagscanner
  • The Flagstaff Police Department asks the public to help with community notification for a convicted sex offender, William Fredrick Ornelas—who is not currently sought by police under state law.  Flagscanner
  • Flagstaff Police responded to PetSmart on Plaza Way on August 17th at 10:00 a.m. after an intoxicated transient threw alcohol bottles on the ground—officials are reviewing the incident.  Flagscanner

CULTURE NEWS

  • Freak Foot Tours Flagstaff launched a new mural tour that shows downtown’s artistic side — the company hopes to build on its popular spooky history tours by inviting local art fans to explore creative murals.  Arizona Daily Sun
  • The Museum of Northern Arizona will host a free open house at the Easton Collection Center to show collection materials on the relationships between plants and pollinators — as well as people.  Arizona Daily Sun

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Flagstaff will host a Citizen’s Review Session and three public hearings starting on August 27th plus additional meetings on September 10th, September 24th, and October 9th to review the Regional Land Use Plan 2045.
