ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On August 15th, the Flagstaff Fire Department responded at 3:03 p.m. to a downed power line on the 2100 block of N. 4th St—reports have not confirmed if power was affected.  Flagscanner

CRIME NEWS

  • Flagstaff police arrested a suspect on Aug. 12 in connection with a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred early this morning near a local intersection — officers say the investigation continues.  Arizona Daily Sun

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Coconino County officials say the wildfires near Flagstaff are nearly under control—experts will now study if the fires have changed the soil and water flow to guide recovery efforts.  Arizona Daily Sun
  • Fire crews from Coconino National Forest are working today on the south end of Agassiz Peak after smoke was reported likely due to a lightning strike — and National Guard crews are handling a 5-acre fire at camp Navajo military base west of Flagstaff that is not expected to grow.  Flagscanner

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Flagstaff will host a Citizen’s Review Session on August 27 at 4 p.m. at City Hall Council Chambers and three public hearings on September 10, September 24, and October 9—each with a virtual option—while residents review the draft Regional Plan 2045 online and submit comments to guide future land-use decisions.  City of Flagstaff
  • The Coconino County Treasurer's Office is moving to downtown Flagstaff—its current Flagstaff Mall location at 4650 N. US Highway 89 will remain open until Aug. 18.  Arizona Daily Sun

SPORTS NEWS

  • The NAU Women’s Soccer team won its season opener 3-1 against Embry-Riddle on Aug. 14th by scoring three goals in the second half—after trailing 1-0 at halftime. Freshman Kaylee Muniz and junior Micala Boex led the comeback, and the Lumberjacks will host Nevada Reno tomorrow at 1 p.m.  KAFF
