ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ At 2:16 p.m. on July 27, Flagstaff Police and EMS responded to a very serious motorcycle accident at Route 66 & Dunnam where a rider was ejected 30 feet and taken to FMC Trauma Center in critical condition. Flagscanner
- ➤ At 6:45 a.m. on July 27th, Flagstaff Fire Department and Flagstaff Water Department responded to a large water main break beneath the concrete at Arroyo Park off Ridgecrest Dr — emergency crews secured the area as officials began assessing the damage. Flagscanner
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Corporal Benjamin Waibel of the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office and his canine partner Dex received the 2025 K9 Officer of the Year award (given by the Arizona Narcotic Officers Association) for their work fighting drug crime in our community. Arizona Daily Sun
- ➤ In Flagstaff, the Arizona Department of Transportation and City contractors say Cedar Avenue will open to vehicles at Monte Vista Drive/Main Street and Fourth Street by August 4 while pedestrian detours remain in place as crews continue sidewalk and roundabout work over the next few weeks. The new Fourth-Lockett roundabout has replaced the signalized intersection and features flashing pedestrian beacons—additional work on water, sewer and landscaping will be completed by fall. - ➤ Coconino County is updating its hazard mitigation plan and has asked Flagstaff residents, business owners, and local organizations to share their feedback through a public survey. The county is working with Flagstaff, Fredonia, Williams, Tusayan, Page, and Northern Arizona University—this joint effort will help secure state and federal funds to reduce disaster risks.
