Good morning, Flagstaff.

Wildfires in northern Arizona have hurt the tourism economy near the Grand Canyon, and local businesses report fewer visitors—officials say recovery efforts may take weeks—while operators adjust their strategies.

The Dragon Bravo Fire keeps burning on the North Rim with 12,728 acres scorched and 856 people working to hold the blaze at 8% containment—rain last weekend did not slow it down.

Officials say that hot, dry weather will let the fire start new spots and push it closer to Route 67 later this week.

Slide Rock State Park earned the Gold designation from Leave No Trace—making it the first state park in Arizona to receive the honor.

Flagstaff Senior Deputy City Manager Shannon Anderson received the 2025 Gabe Zimmerman Public Service Award for Civic Leader for her long service since 2006—she began in human resources and was promoted to deputy city manager in 2019.

The award honors non-elected public servants who work to address Arizona’s long-term challenges and help build a better future.
