CRIME NEWS

  • The Flagstaff Police Department is asking residents to be aware of convicted sex offender Richard Ballard Jahns III, as required by Arizona law — they stated he is not wanted at this time.  Flagscanner

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The state of Arizona allocated $4M to Flagstaff in its FY2026 budget to help build a new wildland fire training facility — a project funded by the state — that will serve as the base for the fire department’s Wildfire Management Division. City officials said the facility will offer year-round scenario-based training for local and regional fire personnel — a step that improves coordination with municipal, state and federal agencies — and boost wildfire response.  Flagscanner
  • Coconino County supports Grand Canyon National Park as the Dragon Bravo Fire closed the North Rim early and the White Sage Fire near Jacobs Lake prompted evacuations—officials and first responders have worked to manage road closures while local residents and businesses face economic challenges.
