- ➤ A wildfire in Kaibab National Forest forced evacuations and closed highways along Grand Canyon’s north rim and near Jacob Lake on Thursday afternoon, county officials said—lightning ignited the fire near Fredonia on Wednesday and crews battled the 431-acre blaze with air attack support and ground efforts.
