- ➤ The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office said they received several reports of new scams from residents + they will investigate the cases to protect the community. Arizona Daily Sun
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Katie Hobbs visited Northern Arizona Healthcare’s Flagstaff campus Thursday—meeting with medical staff to discuss how proposed Medicaid cuts may reduce patient care statewide. NAH President Dave Cheney warned that if another $20 million is lost, services for more than 700,000 people could face cutbacks. KAFF
- ➤ Flagstaff’s congressional representative Rep. Eli Crane introduced a bill that will support cleanup of abandoned hardrock mines in the West—this effort includes uranium mines on the Navajo Nation. Arizona Daily Sun
- ➤ Governor Katie Hobbs yesterday appointed Charles Doughty to the Coconino County Superior Court—he replaces retired Judge Elaine Fridlund-Horne. Doughty led the legal team at DNA-People’s Legal Services since 2020 and also worked at the Attorney General’s Office and the County Public Defender’s Office. KAFF
