COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Volunteers from Blitz Home Builders are working at Timber Sky to finish the first 10 Habitat for Humanity starter homes planned for the site this week—helping provide affordable housing to local families. The project supports efforts to meet growing community housing needs.  Arizona Daily Sun

CULTURE NEWS

  • Charlie Martin, a 12-year-old LEGO Mini Master Builder from Peoria, built a model of Lowell Observatory using 6,000 bricks over 58 hours as part of a global competition—his creation will be on display at LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Phoenix until June 30th and later travel to the Home of the Brick in Billund, Denmark.  KAFF
  • Flagstaff is inviting artists to apply by sending a statement of qualifications for a design team to create a three-dimensional artwork at the roundabout on Switzer Canyon Drive and Turquoise Drive — the deadline is July 1 at 3 p.m. — and the chosen artist will receive a design contract followed by a fabrication and installation contract.  KAFF

  • The Flagstaff City Council approved a final trail plan for Observatory Mesa that includes trail construction, adoption, and decommissioning to build a more accessible and sustainable network. The plan will guide future efforts to improve safe and reliable trails in the area.  Arizona Daily Sun

HEALTH NEWS

  • On Saturday, June 7, the Food and Drug Administration announced that Walmart recalled brown eggs sold in Arizona after tests found a salmonella risk, and customers are urged to return them for refunds.  Arizona Daily Sun
