ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • At 10:13 p.m. on June 6, Flagstaff Police and EMS responded to Woody Mountain Campground after an adult female fell and stopped breathing—CPR was in progress at the scene—following the incident report.  Flagscanner

CRIME NEWS

  • The Flagstaff Police Department is asking residents for help with a state-mandated notification regarding convicted sex offender Glen Swift—currently living in our community—and noted that he is not being actively sought by police.  Flagscanner
  • On June 6th, Flagstaff police responded to the homeless shelter on E Huntington Dr after an assault left one person pepper sprayed — the suspect is in custody.  Flagscanner
  • The second defendant in a December shooting incident in Flagstaff pleaded guilty to reduced charges in Coconino County Superior Court this week.  Arizona Daily Sun
  • At 3:35 p.m. on June 6, 2025, Flagstaff Police tried to pull over a rider on an e-bike doing wheelies on Woodlands Village and Plaza Way— the suspect fled wearing a backwards hat and tan hooded sweater.  Flagscanner

CULTURE NEWS

  • Wupatki National Monument was recognized in May by the Arizona State Historic Preservation Office for its trail rehabilitation work that balances improvements with historic values—officials say the award is part of the annual Arizona Governor’s Heritage Preservation Honor Awards—local experts expect similar efforts to guide future projects.  Arizona Daily Sun

  • Sunday marks the start of Monsoon Awareness Week as Flagstaff residents prepare for summer storms expected to bring much-needed rain after a dry winter; the National Weather Service warns that these storms can also bring risks like flooding and lightning — residents are advised to follow weather alerts and check forecasts before traveling.  AZ Family

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Coconino County has proposed property tax increases for fiscal year 2026 — the county, Flood Control, Library and Public Health Services Districts would raise taxes on an average home valued at $639,621 by 2.0%, 5.09%, 11.48% and 4.43% respectively. Homeowners can send written comments before the public hearing on Tuesday, June 24 at 6 p.m.  KAFF
