GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Katie Hobbs signed an executive order today directing the Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health to form a Workplace Heat Safety Task Force composed of industry leaders, worker representatives, and safety experts who will draft heat guidelines for employers before the end of the year. - ➤ Coconino County is updating its Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan to assess risks from natural and man-made hazards and is inviting local input through an online survey—this collaborative effort with nearby cities and NAU is set to be completed by March 2026. Flagscanner
- ➤ Starting May 27, US Highway 89 between N Cummings St and the city limit near N Snowflake Dr and E Trails End Dr in Flagstaff will have lane closures for concrete work, reducing traffic to one lane each way from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. until May 30—officials say the project is part of the Road Repair and Street Safety Program. - ➤ Arizona lawmakers signed HB2332 to help mothers with postpartum depression by requiring the Health Services department to distribute clear mental health education and by forming an advisory committee—made up of doctors, midwives and other health professionals—that will issue recommendations by December 31, 2026.
