CRIME NEWS

  • Flagstaff Police Department is asking local residents for help with a community notification about convicted sex offender Richard Ballard Jahns III—issued under Arizona Revised Statute 13-3825—who is not currently being sought by police.  Flagscanner

EDUCATION NEWS

  • NAU is holding four commencement ceremonies for over 5,700 graduates today and tomorrow—celebrating the Class of 2025 as they complete their studies.  Arizona Daily Sun

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Flagstaff invites residents to attend an open house for the John Wesley Powell Area Specific Plan at Aquaplex located at 1702 N 4th St from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on May 14; the early-stage plan focuses on trails, transportation, wildlife corridors, and community character—residents can provide feedback on topics of their choice.  City of Flagstaff
  • The City of Flagstaff will host an open house on the John Wesley Powell Area Specific Plan on May 14 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Aquaplex (1702 N 4th St) so community members can learn about key topics including trails, transportation, wildlife corridors, and community character and give their feedback.  Flagscanner
  • Starting Monday, May 12, portions of Riordan Road and Riordan Ranch Street will be closed for installing a new water meter and underground utilities — vehicles parked along the impacted areas risk being towed.   • The Northland Prep girls tennis team reached the Division III state semifinals despite a postponement caused by Tuesday's rainy weather — the delay did not stop them from advancing in the tournament.  Arizona Daily Sun
  • NAU announced that Phoenix native and redshirt junior small forward Isaiah Shaw has committed to join the men's basketball team. Shaw, who is 6'8", played at Grand Canyon University and Valparaiso University, and his father Casey—an assistant head coach at GCU drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers—adds an NBA connection to his profile.  KAFF
