CRIME NEWS

  • On May 5, Flagstaff police found a deceased individual on a Forest Service road off Old Walnut Canyon Road and said no suspicious circumstances were present.  Arizona Daily Sun

CULTURE NEWS

  • The City of Flagstaff and Coconino County announced that the second edition of the Multicultural County Park Sculpture Exhibition will open on May 19 at Elizabeth -Liz- C. Archuleta County Park with an 11 a.m. reception featuring Mayor Becky Daggett and other officials. The exhibition will display large-scale sculptures by artists and will be on view until March 15.  City of Flagstaff

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Flagstaff officials said the Bureau of Reclamation began developing the scope of work for an appraisal study— a key step before a planned feasibility study— for the city's water pipeline proposals.  Arizona Daily Sun
  • Flagstaff resilience hubs will continue offering community events and services despite the termination of an EPA grant + program specialist Sam Wiley from the Sustainability Office said they will operate in every available capacity.  Arizona Daily Sun

HEALTH NEWS

  • Researchers at NAU in Flagstaff are using state-of-the-art equipment—paired with a spider—to help lower anxiety by first scanning participants' brains and then guiding them through six neurofeedback sessions. The study finds that these treatments reduce arachnophobia and general anxiety, with participants reporting improvements in daily life.  AZ Family
