CRIME NEWS

  • Flagstaff police request community help with a notice for convicted sex offender Kenneth Wayne Glover under Arizona Revised Statute 13-3825—he is not wanted by the department.  Flagscanner
  • Flagstaff Police Department is asking for help to complete a legal notification about a convicted sex offender, Cody JAY Yazzie (26475977), who lives in our community and is not being actively sought by police.  Flagscanner
  • At 6:45 p.m. on April 25, Flagstaff Police Department responded to the Park Santa Fe shopping complex on East Route 66 after receiving reports of a fight between two males — injuries were unknown.  Flagscanner

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Fire managers will conduct five prescribed burns next week in northern Arizona forests to reduce hazardous fuels and lower wildfire risks. The burns at Horseshoe-Maxwell Springs, Blue Ridge Urban Interface, West Fork Crater Sinks, Horseshoe-Kendrick, and Sawmill are planned near Bellemont, Clints Well, Flagstaff, Kendrick Park, and Mormon Lake — conditions and approvals may change the projects.  KAFF

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Flagstaff is updating the pine needle disposal schedule by placing roll-off dumpsters in University Heights from April 25—May 2 for all residents, with specific locations provided on Walkup Dr, Shullenbarger Dr, and Dolores Ln near University Heights. The city will announce dates for other neighborhoods soon—residents are urged to remove extra pine needles to reduce wildfire risk.  City of Flagstaff
  • The City of Flagstaff and Coconino County invite residents to a citizen review session on the Regional Land Use Plan 2045 at City Hall on May 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. City Council, the Board of Supervisors and planning commissions will review plan updates following a 60-day public process (agenda and meeting packet will be available starting April 28).  City of Flagstaff
  • Coconino County Emergency Management announced today the launch of a new mobile command unit that will boost disaster response using advanced communications from Starlink and Hypha — the project is funded by a Congressionally Designated Spending award and built by JHB Group Inc.  KAFF
  • Yesterday, the Coconino County Board of Supervisors approved the Fort Tuthill County Park Master Plan Update—introducing four major additions including a central plaza with Indigenous art, upgraded amenities, new recreation options, and improved sustainable infrastructure—to enhance the park for community use. The update builds on plans first approved in 2012 and renovated in 2016 with contributions from local experts and community members.  KAFF
  • On March 3, the Phoenix area Bureau of Reclamation began work on an appraisal-level study for Flagstaff’s planned regional water pipeline from Red Gap Ranch—acquired in 2005 with 71% voter-approved funding—to gather technical data for a federal feasibility study and explore regional benefits with partners like the Navajo Nation, the Hopi Tribe and the Arizona State Land Department.  KAFF
