CULTURE NEWS

  • Creative Flagstaff announced ARTx 2025 as a yearlong series of creative events that will bring new art experiences to local neighborhoods. In partnership with The Arboretum, artists Krista Birnbaum, Colin Kubarych, and Elias Marshall will exhibit works from April 30 through October 26 while the First Friday ArtWalk hosts Car Free First Friday on May 2 along Aspen Ave — from N San Francisco St to N Leroux St.  KAFF

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Fire managers with the Flagstaff Ranger District are continuing the Horseshoe Maxwell Springs prescribed burn project today west of Flagstaff and north of Bellemont across 200 acres to reduce hazardous forest fuels from a 2010 tornado—personnel, weather, and fuel conditions may cause ignitions to be rescheduled if conditions change.  Flagscanner

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On March 3, 2025, the Bureau of Reclamation began developing a scope of work for an appraisal-level study of Flagstaff's planned regional water supply pipeline from Red Gap Ranch—located about 35 miles east along I-40—to help strengthen the city's water resilience, while the project will use findings from the Jacobs Phase II Report and partner inputs before a federal feasibility-level study is proposed.  City of Flagstaff

  • NAU men’s tennis head coach Maciej Bogusz was named 2025 Co-coach of the Year and senior Dani Torres was named MVP by the Big Sky Conference after a season that saw an undefeated conference record — the Lumberjacks will begin the Big Sky Championships today at 8 a.m. in Phoenix.  KAFF
  • The Flagstaff girls tennis team remains undefeated in regional play and will compete in the postseason later this season — expectations are high for their continued success.  Arizona Daily Sun
  • NAU women’s tennis head coach Ewa Bogusz was named Big Sky Coach of the Year for the third time while junior Daryna Shoshyna earned Big Sky Women’s Tennis MVP by posting an undefeated record in conference singles play—she improved her stats each season since joining the team. The Lumberjacks will begin the Big Sky Championships in Phoenix today and will face the winner of the contest between No. 5 Idaho State and No. 4 Montana State at 8 a.m. tomorrow.  KAFF
