- ➤ At 3:32 p.m., CCSO deputies and EMS responded near Silver Saddle and Highway 89 to a stabbing in Doney Park and began searching for a suspect (a Native American male in his 30s wearing dark clothing) believed to be in a nearby campground while also attending to a possible second stabbing along Forest Service Rd 545 near Bonito Campground. - ➤ At the High-Country Conference Center in Flagstaff on April 17, 2025, the Teacher of the Year Awards were announced. Dawn Quamahongnewa from Leupp Elementary was named Teacher of the Year and Lesley Littlefield from Knoles Elementary was honored as Rookie Teacher while Traci Parker and Lisa Barquin received lifetime achievement awards (Ambassadors for Excellence were also recognized). - ➤ After being postponed last week, fire managers at the Coconino National Forest scheduled a 200-acre prescribed burn for Thursday, April 24 through Friday, April 25 (9.5 miles northwest of Flagstaff near Bellemont) and expect smoke to affect U.S. Highway 180 (in Fort Valley) and Interstate 40 near Bellemont at night. - ➤ Walker Timme, a 6 ft 7 in forward who averaged 10.6 points and 4.3 rebounds in 13 games at College of Southern Idaho, committed today to NAU via the transfer portal and will join the Lumberjacks as a redshirt junior—he is the second forward to join the team after Zack Davidson announced his commitment. - ➤ Former Montana Grizzly forward Zack Davidson announced on Instagram Sunday that he will transfer to NAU as a redshirt sophomore, and he played 16 games averaging 6.3 minutes, 2.4 points and 1.9 rebounds while earning league MVP honors at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana in 2023. KAFF
