- ➤ Karson Nutter — an ex-Ash Fork firefighter — was sentenced to five years in prison after confessing to setting at least seven fires in northern Arizona, including structure fires at a Mobil station, a cemetery, and abandoned homes driven by boredom and revenge against his former employer. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Flagstaff Sustainability Office will host two free events to help reduce waste—Drop-Off Day on April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Coconino County Health and Human Services building and a Fix-It Clinic on May 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Joe C. Montoya Community & Senior Center. City of Flagstaff
- ➤ Up to four prescribed burns will take place in Coconino National Forest from Monday, April 14 through Friday, April 18 as conditions and approvals will determine their timing. A burn near Campbell Mesa (7 miles east of Flagstaff) will produce light smoke affecting nearby neighborhoods and Interstate 40 at night, while burns in Bellemont, Oak Creek, and near Clints Well will vary in size and may be rescheduled (plans depend on fuel, weather, staffing, and department approval). - ➤ Flagstaff selected winning designs for its ADU Model Plan Library and now the city invites residents to vote for their favorite option. The vote will determine which design will be used in upcoming plans. Arizona Daily Sun
- ➤ A concept design plan for Highland Mesa Park entered Flagstaff’s design review process in March and was presented at the Parks and Recreation Commission meeting on March 17, with city staff now evaluating the plan for park improvements. Arizona Daily Sun

- ➤ The state attorney general is hosting a town hall today at the Coconino Center for the Arts in Flagstaff from 6 to 8 p.m. Residents can ask questions about federal budget cuts + learn how these changes may affect state initiatives. Arizona Daily Sun
- ➤ The City of Flagstaff announced that it may raise its primary property tax levy during the budget retreat on April 24-25, though no decision has been made as of today. If City Council moves forward, a public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, June 17 at 3:00 p.m. to review a maximum allowed rate of .6808 per $100 of net assessed value—an increase from last year's rate of .6363 per $100.
