  • Lieutenant John Romero of the Williams Police Department was fired after ABC15 reported that body cam footage showed him force a handcuffed Brian Lopez to the ground in June when Lopez was accused of stealing a can of beer, causing a head injury and contradicting Romero's claim that Lopez was resisting arrest.  KAFF

  • Northern Arizona University will host the 2025 Regents' Cup this weekend—an ABOR-presented speech and debate competition that promotes free speech and civil discourse.  Arizona Daily Sun

  • Flagstaff has asked the Arizona Supreme Court to review a lawsuit that challenges Desert Mountain’s right to drill an exploratory helium well near Red Gap Ranch—this review may affect future drilling permits in the area.  Arizona Daily Sun

  • NAU’s new head women’s basketball coach Laura Dinkins held her inaugural press conference Wednesday afternoon at the Student Athlete High Performance Center — where NAU President Jose Luis Cruz Rivera and Interim Athletic Director Uri Farkas spoke about academic excellence and student opportunities — and outlined her plan to build a defensive team while pursuing recruits from high schools, junior colleges, and the transfer portal, already securing a commitment from point guard J’Bionna Robinson of Morrow High School in Atlanta.  KAFF
