COMMUNITY NEWS

  • During its April general conference, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced that Flagstaff is one of 15 cities planned for a new temple.  Arizona Daily Sun

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Northern Arizona University has proposed selling 5 acres of vacant property —located at 1301 S. Fourth St.— according to a meeting agenda.  Arizona Daily Sun
  • An ABOR committee forwarded a proposal to raise fees for Northern Arizona University’s educational leadership graduate programs to $150 per semester starting in fall 2025— the proposal now awaits further review.  Arizona Daily Sun

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Katie Hobbs signed state Bill 1437—requiring school staff to report abuse on campus to DCS or law enforcement—and the law will take effect later this year.  KAFF
  • The United States Postal Service will host a job fair at the Flagstaff Main Post Office — 2400 N Postal Blvd — from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, April 11 to fill positions for Rural Carrier Assistants, Assistant Rural Carriers and City Carrier Assistants.  KAFF
  • Today at 11:00 a.m., Wecom Fiber and the City of Flagstaff held a ceremony at Flagstaff Aquaplex to kick off a $5 million broadband project — installing multi-gigabit service in 34 city-owned facilities including Flagstaff Recreation Center, City Hall, and public libraries. The project is funded by a $2 million city grant and $3 million from Wecom — with private funds expanding the network to nearly all of Flagstaff.  KAFF
  • Flagstaff police received a $90K grant to fight driving under the influence — the funds will support efforts to curb impaired driving and underage alcohol consumption.  Arizona Daily Sun
