COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A local church is providing space for an overflow shelter as Flagstaff Shelter Services sees increased activity—offering extra help for many people. Executive Director Ross Schaefer said the church’s move reflects strong community values—showing local commitment amid rising needs.  Arizona Daily Sun

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Coconino National Forest has told drivers to be cautious when traveling on forest roads at the Mogollon Rim Ranger District—FR 300, 141 and 147—as ongoing log truck traffic will be present for the foreseeable future.  Arizona Daily Sun

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today the Flagstaff Police received a $91,140 grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety to boost patrols against impaired driving and underage drinking. The department will use the funds for new enforcement programs and work with local schools and groups—a measure responding to last year's 30 serious injury collisions and six fatalities.  KAFF
