ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A small plane crashed just east of Flagstaff and emergency crews are investigating the cause. Flagscanner
- ➤ Federal authorities reported that a Piper PA-28 made an emergency landing in a field west of Flagstaff at 10:30 a.m. on March 19 following reports of engine failure—only the pilot was on board and their condition remains unknown. AZ Family
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Deputies are searching for three family members last seen traveling westbound on I-40 on March 13 at 3:30 p.m. in a rental 2024 BMW (with California plate 9KHN768) after winter weather and a multi-vehicle crash (involving 20 vehicles near Williams that killed two people) and urge anyone with information to come forward. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The opening reception for the new Art in Action exhibit Ending Gun Violence: Healing Our Souls in Flagstaff was postponed from March 7 to April 4—organizers say the delay allows extra time for setup—and the exhibit will now feature artwork aimed at healing from gun violence. Arizona Daily Sun
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Wednesday, ADOT announced six winners of its Name-A-Snowplow contest from more than 2,100 entries and 14,000 votes. Flagstaff will have snowplows named 'CTRL + SALT + DELETE' and 'Darth Blader' while winners 'Blizzard of Oz' and 'Sleetwood Mac' will work near Williams, 'Scoop Dog' in Payson and 'Plowasaurus Rex' in Globe. - ➤ The Department of Defense will restore the Navajo Code Talkers pages from its website after concerns were raised by Coconino County supervisors—county leaders stressed the need to preserve these important historical records. Arizona Daily Sun
- ➤ The Arizona Department of Transportation, City of Flagstaff, and Fann Contracting will start preliminary work on a new roundabout at Fourth Street and Cedar Avenue/Lockett Road on March 31—this phase will include tree removal, fence installation, concrete removal, and storm drain upgrades while the intersection stays open with lane and sidewalk restrictions. A full closure is planned during summer break from May 23 to Aug. 4, and the project will finish in Fall. Flagscanner
