GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Arizona Department of Transportation, City of Flagstaff and Fann Contracting will begin work on March 31, 2025 to replace the traffic light at Fourth Street and Cedar Avenue/Lockett Road with a new roundabout. The plan will remove trees, install water, sewer and storm drains with lane and sidewalk limits and will fully close the intersection during the school break from May 23 to August 4 — crews may work some nights and weekends — while still giving access to nearby schools, businesses and residents. - ➤ City leaders announced that the formal adoption of Flagstaff’s 2045 Regional Land Use Plan will be delayed until at least March 2026 as discussions on updating the plan continue. Arizona Daily Sun
- ➤ Ten pages about Native Code Talkers were removed from military websites Tuesday as the Defense Department followed an executive order to remove DEI content. Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren said he received clarification from the Defense Department that the pages will be restored soon—one article honored a World War Two Code Talker legacy. KAFF
- ➤ APS and city staff explained at a recent Flagstaff City Council meeting that planned outages during extreme fire danger may affect the city’s water infrastructure — an update provided by AZ’s largest electricity provider. Arizona Daily Sun
