ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Kaibab National Forest has announced that maintenance prescribed burns will begin March 17 and continue until May 15, weather permitting. The controlled fire operation will cover 6,136 acres near Jacob Lake and may cause temporary closures, including a 3.5-mile section of the Arizona National Scenic Trail. KAFF

- ➤ Officials and water agencies are discussing a plan to use treated seawater from a Carlsbad plant to ease Colorado River cuts in Arizona after a memorandum was signed by the San Diego County Water Authority.
