About this event

This is in Studio B for silks, lyra, and youth lyra. Independent Trainings (IT) are open to students of all levels (beginner/1a-1d, intermediate/2a-2d, & advanced 3a-4d). IT is an opportunity for current students to use the given studio equipment to work on conditioning and practice things you have learned in your classes; students may not use this time to learn or try new things. IT typically goes on at the same time as another class in the same or adjacent studio. This means the instructor is only available for emergencies; teachers will not to play music or answer questions about skills during this time. Students are expected to be self-guided in order to attend IT. We offer IT times to utilize our limited space as efficiently as possible. We recognize the need for more practice times for students, and we often have 1-3 spots available during a class that are able to be used for IT. Expectations for students attending this open training: -If you’re a beginner student, we require that you take at least 3 classes before attending so that you have something to practice. -Please keep you practice quiet so it doesn’t disrupt the class going on. -Please bring earbuds/wireless headphones if you need specific music or need to practice a routine. The studio speaker is not available. -Do not practice skills that you don’t understand, remember or can’t get out of. -Students are not permitted to teach other students in class or during open gyms. Do not ask other students in independent training to teach you a skill; practice only what you know and have learned in class. -due to the high risk nature of aerial, students are asked to refrain from teaching themselves skills from videos or the internet. Without an instructor to guide, students can get stuck, fall at height or become injured in other ways without first learning technique from an instructor. Referencing videos from a class you attended is okay to help remember skills, but teaching yourself new things from a video is not permitted. -if your student is a child 12 or under, they may attend if they can independently practice their skills without an instructor. If they need an instructors's help, they should attend open gym instead.
